Dates:  July 26-30
Location:  Algonkian Regional Park

In partnership with coaches from Loudoun Field Hockey Association, we’re running a one-week field hockey camp for girls age 8 to 17 (rising 3rd-12th grade). No experience is necessary and the camp will run clinics for new and experienced players.  Girls will be broken into smaller groups based on skill level to maximize learning.

In addition to field hockey, each day campers will have indoor lunch time and free swim time in the indoor pool at Claude Moore. In the event of rain, alternative indoor activities will be available.

All campers are required to have shin guards, mouth guard, and stick. Equipment rental is available for new players who do not want to buy equipment.  When you opt for the equipment rental (stick and shin guards), you will receive a 100% credit ($20 value) toward buying your own gear for fall season--try before you buy!  Rental equipment will be handed out on-site at camp.

Need a mouth guard?  You may also opt to add a Shock Doctor mouth guard to your registration.  Mouth guards should be picked up in our office before camp as they need to be molded before you come to camp.

Bring: lunch, water bottle, cleats, shin guards (field hockey style preferred, soccer OK), mouth guard, change of sneakers, swim suit and towel.

Camp Leaders

MELISSA PUGSLEY:  Grew up in Pennsylvania and played field hockey from 5th to 12th grades and during her first year of college. After switching colleges, she unfortunately moved to one that did not have a field hockey team but has stayed involved in the game as much as possible.  Melissa is a founding member of LFHA as an adult player and has coached several different age groups throughout the last three years. A Level II umpire, she not only refs for LFHA but for VHSL games and travels to ref tournaments as well.

LOU KING:  Played hockey for over 20 years both in UK & US. In 2005 obtained Level 1 coaching certificate in UK and coached adult team.  Moved to US in 2006 became a founder member of LFHA and has coached all youth age groups over the last 6 seasons. Coached Starbursts to FunFest winners in 2007 and Lightening to Fun Fest winners in 2009. Currently coaching LFHA Young Guns at the Capital Field Hockey Summer League in Fairfax.  Also has Level 1 umpiring and umpire for both LFHA and VHSL.

SALLIE ARMSTRONG:  Current D3 athlete at Washington and Lee University.  Three-year letterwinner and team captain 2008 and 2009 (also a captain of the W&L track team). Currently second all-time in career goals scored (39) and points (93).  17goals and 37 points last season, both rank as 2nd-highest season totals in W&L history.  Started all 18 games in 2008. Garnered First Team All-ODAC and All-State honors.  Second team all-region.  Earned First Team All-ODAC and all-state honors as a first-year and sophomore.  Selected to the Women'sFieldHockey.com All-Rookie Squad as a freshman.  Named team's Most Valuble Offensive Player 2006, 2007, and 2008.  Four-year letterwinner in field hockey and track, earning two letters in soccer at St. John's High School in Houston, TX.  Highly deocrated athlete in both field hockey and track.
