Dates:  July 26-30, August 23-27, August 30-September 3
National Conference Center in Lansdowne, VA

 

Join us for one or all three weeks of Art Camp this summer - each week will have it's own theme!  Work with a variety of materials and mediums to create works of art in preparation for an Art Show at the end of each session where parents and other campers can visit the "DMB Museum of Art"!

July 26-30:  Movement in Art
We will learn about several art movements and artists within each movement including:
• Surrealism - Dali and Magritte
• Pop Art -  Lichtenstein and Oldenburg
• Impressionism - Monet

August 23-27:  Art Around the World
We will examine different kinds of art from around the world including:
• Greece - learn how mythology influenced Grecian pottery
• Egypt - study hieroglyphics, architecture, and sculpture
• China & Japan - learn about Japanese prints and drawings as well as
Chinese letterforms
• France - ancient cave paintings as well as the study of cubism

August 30-September 3: Art Today
Jump forward to study such contemporary artists as:
• Andy Goldsworthy - use of natural and found objects
• Jenny Holzer - working with text as art
• Chuck Close - realism and large-scale portraits
• Ann Hamilton - replication and the use of form on a mass scale


2010 Hours and Rates
Daily hours 9:00 am–4:00 pm; extended camp care is also available.
Weekly rate is $220 per camper.
